Trying to improve their app catalog, Android announces that they will now have their apps reviewed by people before they hit the Google Play store. In the past, Android apps were only screened using software. The company said that they began reviewing apps a few months ago and plan to continue down this path. In their blog post, Android also announced that they were introducing a “new age-based rating system for apps and games on Google Play”.
Having each app reviewed individually will help lower the number of apps in the Google Play store. This will also help the company avoid any copyright infringements.
I think that the fact that they will be having people look at the apps can help the company cut down on having multiple apps of the same sort. This will in turn help them cut down on storage and help the processors run faster. Softwares can glitch at any point or miss mistakes. I think this is a great step for Android in continuing in the race with Apple.
